Finally doing this Infinite Summer thing #infsum

Well look at me, getting into this Infinite Summer fad.  On September 5th.  Because that's how I roll.  I write my college papers at 3am the day they are due, I buy your birthday present on the way to your party, and I read Infinite Jest in less than three weeks.

Maybe.

Anyway, I am going to try to do some catching up and read the previous summaries and posts as I progress along.  I made my own little schedule based on the summaries already posted, complete with links for my own convenience.  Thank you, Me.

Time to revisit Vonnegut

I was at the book store the other day and came across Armageddon in Retrospect, a posthumously published collection of short stories relating to war and peace by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.  I was not aware of this publication (it was released in 2008) and it made me realize how long it had been since I had read anything by Vonnegut.  It also made me realize that, despite being my favorite author, I had barely scratched the surface of his oeuvre.  Unacceptable!

So after "Project Actually Reading Infinite Jest" is finished I think I will start "Project Read All of Vonnegut's Novels and Short Stories."  Possibly in chronological order.  Probably not back to back because I have massive a backlog of nonfiction to read.

Novels

  • Player Piano (1952)
  • The Sirens of Titan (1959)
  • Mother Night (1961)
  • Cat's Cradle (1963)
  • God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater; or, Pearls before Swine (1965)
  • Slaughterhouse-Five; or, The Children's Crusade (1969)
  • Breakfast of Champions; or, Goodbye Blue Monday (1973)
  • Slapstick; or, Lonesome No More (1976)
  • Jailbird (1979)
  • Deadeye Dick (1982)
  • Galápagos (1985)
  • Bluebeard (1987)
  • Hocus Pocus (1990)
  • Timequake (1997)

Collections of short stories and essays

  • Canary in a Cathouse (1961)
  • Welcome to the Monkey House: A Collection of Short Works (1968)
  • Wampeters, Foma and Granfalloons (1974)
  • Palm Sunday (1981)
  • Fates Worse than Death (1991)
  • Bagombo Snuff Box: Uncollected Short Fiction (1999)
  • God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian (1999)
  • A Man Without a Country (2005)
  • Armageddon in Retrospect (2008, posthumous)
  • Look at the Birdie (2009, posthumous)

I can barely remember God Bless You Mr. Rosewater.  And I think I read Player Piano...anyway, this should keep me busy for awhile.
